Kakadu collaboration for the yellow chat

Mon, 20 Jul 2020

The Alligator Rivers yellow chat is an Endangered bird living on the floodplains of several major rivers in and around Kakadu National Park. Not much is known about its habitat needs and major threats, which makes it hard to plan effective conservation strategies.

Researcher Robin Leppitt has been working with park rangers and Traditional Owners to fill those gaps, to give the bird a brighter future. This Threatened Species Recovery Hub project is a collaboration between Charles Darwin University, Parks Australia, Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife and Traditional Owners.

It receives support from the Australian Government’s National Environmental Science Program.
