Jez Bird is a PhD student at The University of Queensland, Australia.

He is researching the conservation ecology of burrow-nesting petrels on Macquarie Island following the eradication of invasive mammals. Of particular interest is how we monitor species' responses effectively in a cost-constrained sector.

Jez has worked in international conservation for ten years helping to define conservation priorities through the IUCN Red List and BirdLife International's Important Bird Area programme.

He also has experience at the business-biodiversity interface supporting companies to design and implement net gain strategies for biodiversity.
